The Academic Services Team (AST) manages and supports students in all aspects of their academic performance, achievement and progression throughout their time at PUIC and moving into Plymouth University. PUIC is an exciting and vibrant college that offers students a wealth of opportunities for self-development and to improve important academic and life skills. The AST provides personal support to each student. This support will give you the capability to successfully complete your studies at PUIC and progress confidently to Plymouth University, as well as bestowing essential knowledge that you will use for the rest of your life.
We are responsible for providing support and advice for all staff and students, thus enabling them to undertake their teaching and learning responsibilities effectively and efficiently. We also ensure that the academic activities of PUIC are conducted in accordance with the College’s own governing procedures and regulations and in compliance with external regulatory requirements.
The AST develops and implements PUIC’s policies and practices in relation to academic quality and standards, in turn, ensuring your progression through your selected pathway runs smoothly. The areas covered by the AST are course materials and delivery; curriculum development; student and staff academic advice; examinations and assessments; timetabling; student complaints; and any communications with institutions outside the College.
The team also provides information and guidance on how to change programmes and modules; supply references, statements and transcripts; and authorise essential absences.
The AST will assist you in enjoying the student experience to its fullest extent and ensure that you are fully supported in your studies at PUIC.
