World Class Facilities
Plymouth University has recently undertaken a programme of major investment to
ensure its place as a centre of excellence, delivering research and teaching to world-class standards. With over £100 million of investment, students will enjoy an exceptionally high standard of facilities.
Projects already completed
- £35 million award-winning Roland Levinsky building provides high quality teaching accommodation and a new home for the Faculty of Arts. It also hosts community and business events and aims to become the focal point of the city's cultural quarter. There are exhibition areas, a theatre, cafe, gallery and a cinema for everyone to enjoy.
- £40 million Rolle building includes new purpose-built facilities for the Faculty of Education, additional residential accommodation and a cafe.
- £30 million Portland Square building accommodates the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and Faculty of Science and Technology schools.
- £10.75 million Nancy Astor building provides a four-court sports hall, a health and fitness centre, cafe, energy centre and a new home for the Faculty of Health.
- £8 million library extension provides student and staff with 24/7 access to computing and media areas, improved study facilities and a coffee shop.
- £1 million new nursery facilities for children of students and staff.
- £3.5 million Students' Union extension provides shops, a newly refurbished restaurant and dedicated facilities for student clubs and societies.
- £8.3 million refurbishment of the main science and engineering buildings and a further £1.9 million has been spent on refitting the science laboratories.
- £200,000 spent on new boats for the benefit of student water sports clubs.
